Welcome to Santé. Your guarantee is our commitment. At Santé, we are enabling businesses to operate efficiently by providing certainty, solutions & profitability.

Our industrial division distributes a wide range of certified hardwood, softwood, cement & safety products across domestic and export markets.

Santé’s timber is primarily sourced from Canada, the world’s leader in sustainable forest management. Covering 347 million hectares, Canada’s forests comprise nearly 9% of the world’s total forested land, and Canada is the international leader in forest certification. We also have mills in Europe and New Zealand.

We eliminate risk, guarantee quality & ensure your supply chain is smarter & safer.

Product Range

The Lowenstein Difference 2

Building Products

Do you have a commercial or residential project needing a whole range of building materials and supplies? Our wood species range includes cedar, eucalyptus, fir, hemlock, pine, ash, beech, birch, mahogany, maple, teak and walnut.

Softwood Timber Products

Softwoods are generally the coniferous species such as pine, fir and cedar, which are a lighter wood and grow quickly. These have a much coarser grain and are mostly much less in strength than hardwoods.

For varying applications in woodworking, softwoods have their purpose despite being generally considered inferior to hardwoods in most scenarios. They are very economical due to their growth rate. In building they are used in abundance for framework, lining, cladding and more.

Hardwood Timber Products

Hardwoods are significantly heavier and more stable, and are far stronger. Hardwoods are used more for things like piles/piers, footings, flooring, decking, furniture and architectural applications.

Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL)

Laminated Veneer Lumber is a high-strength engineered wood product made from veneers bonded together under heat and pressure. It is used for permanent structural applications including beams and rafters.

Section sizes are cut from 1200 m wide sheets or “billets”. The ability to cut different shapes from the LVL sheets allows for structural innovation using angular and curved shapes.

LVL provides a cost-effective and sustainable building material, delivering high structural reliability and strength.

Cement & Lime Products

General Purpose cement is ideal for use in structural concrete, mortars, renders, grouts and cement based products, and can also be used as a general binder in soil stabilisation.

Quicklime is manufactured by calcining high quality limestone at elevated temperatures. Quicklime is highly reactive with water generating considerable heat in the hydration process. Quicklime is also widely used in soil stabilisation processes.

Heavy Duty Disposable Gloves

Preventing long-lasting damage & preserving hands is a huge priority in the industrial setting, where hands are routinely subjected to corrosive materials, abrasive objects, and other potentially harmful materials.

Santé have secured substantial production capacity of industrial grade 6mil orange and black nitrile gloves (fully textured).

Global Supply Chain

Our ways of working mean increased efficiencies & reliability for you:

  • Substantial production capacity secured to guarantee your product when you need it.
  • Scalability for increased demand during times of need.
  • Dedicated teams on the ground to source & validate suppliers, & implement quality control.
  • Established direct relationships with premium freight carriers for accelerated service & reliable scheduling.

Sustainability

Our forests are a fragile gift, at Santé we are committed to the principals of responsibility and Sustainability. We are promoting wood as the sustainable building material of the future. British Columbia has the worlds toughest regulations for the forestry industry and in adherence our wood is PEFC certified.

We don’t see this as a challenge, but rather an opportunity to lead the path in sustainable harvesting and processing through effective stewardship and forest management practices.

Grading

F Grade vs MGP Grading

Grading systems for timber can quickly become confusing. The standard and most common grading system that has been used with structural timber for many years is the F Grade system. Most timbers bar some of the plantation pines are F graded. This is done either visually or mechanically, using a stress grader. Alternatively, MGP grading can be used on specific plantation pines, and is done using a machine.

F GRADING

Giving an F grade to a piece of timber measures the bending strength of the timber. The ‘F’ stands for force, measured by MPa (megapascals), and gives a measurement of the amount of force a piece of timber can stand before bending beyond a certain threshold. An F9 piece of timber would be able to withstand 9 MPa.

Standard Trade Name Stress Grade (F Grade)
Douglas Fir F11 F8 F7 F5
Radiata Pine F8 F7 F5 F4
Slash Pine F14 F11 F8 F7
Cypress Pine F7 F5 F4
Hoop Pine F8 F7 F5

MGP GRADING

MGP grading, standing for Machine Graded Pine, is a system used for particular pines such as radiata, slash and Caribbean pines. MGP measures elasticity (MOE, modulus of elasticity) which considers other properties such as stiffness, compressive strength and shear strength.

A higher MOE means stiffer properties. Measured by an MGP machine, the grade the timber is given is simply an abbreviation of the MOE category that is falls under.

MGP 10 has an MOE of 10,000 megapascals (MPa)
MGP 12 has an MOE of 12,700 Mpa
MGP 15 has an MOE of 15,200 Mpa

USING MGP IN PLACE OF F GRADED TIMBER

An important consideration to make is that while MGP timber may be substituted for F graded material, F graded wood cannot be substituted the other way around.

The reason is that MGP grades have compatibility set for a range of properties, where F grades are based only on bending properties. Therefore, if an F graded piece is provided as a substitute, it may not take into account important factors such as shear or compressive strength where MGP wood is tested such.

MGP 10 can replace F5
MGP 12 can replace F8
MGP 15 can replace F11
